Where Reid is addicted to dilaudid and struggling to keep his life afloat with his mom's hospital bills and his own housing bills and his drug habit. SO, Reid starts prostituting himself discreetly on the weekends, covering his tracks by having a go between. And then, during a case, Reid and Hotch are kidnapped by an UnSub so Hotch has to put on a show for the UnSub to buy time for the others to find them and it all involves roughing Reid up but good, slamming him against the wall, putting bruises on his skin and when he starts stripping him for the fuck-or-die situation, he notices the track marks and is all ;_; I wanna help. So once they get through that situation, Hotch tells him to come and stay with him to get clean. Except even though he starts sort of staying with Hotch (and Haley and Jack) he isn't getting clean. Though he is hiding it well from Hotch.

So Hotch doesn't know he's still using (and hooking) until Hotch one time is looking for a hook-up and the girl who Reid is using as a go between sets him up with Reid. And Reid is high as fuck and Hotch knows he shouldn't, but oh lord does he do it.
